Dr. Godehard Guenther

President and CEO
Dr. Guenther founded soundmatters in 1998 and is CEO, and president. He holds three PhD's - Astronomy, Nuclear Physics, and Physical Chemistry from University of Heidelberg. Having been recruited by Werner Von Braun, he spent eight years as a project manager for NASA. In 1978, a passion for music led him to begin importing Braun audio loudspeakers to the US. That, in turn, led to the founding of a new audio company, a/d/s/. Eventually, he became president of Braun audio and for many years served as director of the German Industry Association (ZVEI), and as director of the German Institute of High Fidelity (DHFI). Braun later merged into a/d/s/, and under his guidance, they pioneered the category of miniature hi-fi loudspeakers and introduced an incredible list of industry innovations including: first use of rare earth magnets in a speaker, first use of a switching power supply for car hi-fi, first digital time-delay system for surround sound, first component speaker for car hi-fi, first in-wall speaker, first in-wall subwoofer. In 1998, Dr Guenther sold the a/d/s/ company to focus his efforts on developing great sound for the fast-growing world of multi-media applications.
